My Dark Life, by Sujeil Colón

One day my life was a dream
made into reality. But something
happened and that flower withered.
The sea was salty like my
destiny. In that one day
the sky became dark above the
horizon. Everything in my life — I was
crying for that sad palm tree of
love that united the moon
and the stars when pleasure grew
in us.

  • I Write

    by Wanda Cappas

    I write about my daughter
how she puts a smile on
    my face each morning.
    I write about anger.
I write about how hard it
is to be a young mother
    and how people criticize me.
    I write about my sister
    how I missed her when
    she was away.
    I write about anything
    that crosses my mind.
    I write about my
    name, Muñeca, crazy,
    untouchable, trouble,
    Wanda.
    I write about
    me.
